About the exhibition
The Photography Hall of the Centro Niemeyer hosts the exhibition “Ramón Masats. Visit Spain,” which captures the journey the photographer took between 1955 and 1965, traveling across the geography of Spain with his camera. Curated by Chema Conesa, the exhibition explores the clichés of the official culture of the time, marked by the end of autarky and the beginning of the National Tourism Plan.
Ramón Masats, awarded the National Photography Prize in 2004, documents the reality of a country trapped in material poverty and spiritual bondage, offering an interpretation that goes beyond mere optical reality.
