Traditional Asturian Music
Pandereteres de Fitoria present a showcase of their work as interpreters of traditional Asturian music performed by women.
This show, developed entirely in Asturian, deals with the different roles that women played in the rural environment as guardians of oral tradition: as the person responsible for educating children and accompanying them from birth to adulthood, and as a living sound archive of the knowledge necessary for everyday life (from recipes to songs for dancing, passing through religious songs).
Some pieces include the participation of musicians, who accompany with string and percussion instruments. Also, the aspect of reworking traditional themes is covered, giving them a more modern treatment and making them closer to youth, who often feel other types of music.
