Luarca/L.luarca hosts the Our Lady of the Rosary festival, patron of sailors - it is said that she protected Juan de Austria and his ships in the Battle of Lepanto - which is celebrated in the village in mid-summer since time immemorial.

Taken out on a float by the dock, the Virgin rises to the boat, which by strict turn corresponds to her, and begins a tour of the sea - sailing -, accompanied by the rest of the decorated boats. During the sailing, the Sailor’s Salve is sung and the floral offering is made in honor of all those who have died at sea.
