The Palacio de Valdés-Bazán is a noble manor house in San Román, in the municipality of Candamo, built in the early 17th century and remodelled in the 18th. The building has a rectangular plan and two storeys; its main façade is very plain, with only two coats of arms standing out between the openings, while the rear façade opens onto a broad arcaded gallery running along both floors.
Since its restoration, the palace serves as a cultural facility for the municipality: it houses the Centro de Interpretación de la Caverna de Candamo, conceived as a complement to visiting the cave, together with the public library, a conference hall, computer classrooms and multipurpose spaces for workshops. It also has a temporary exhibition room and two educational classrooms focused on the Cueva de la Peña.
