About this venue
The Teatro Filarmónica in Oviedo was created as the home of the Sociedad Filarmónica, to host its concerts, and opened its doors in 1944. It stands behind Plaza Porlier, with its front on Calle Mendizábal, and is a classicist-style building, typical of the autarkic period, designed by Ramón González Villamil. In 1982 it received the Silver Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts.
It has a capacity of 800 seats spread across the stalls, the amphitheatre and the general upper floor, and its acoustics are highly regarded. It has an orchestra pit and renovated dressing rooms. Over its history it has combined theatre performances with film screenings.
