The Ballad of the North

In the turbulent landscape of 1930s Spain, “La balada del norte” narrates the intimate and political journey of Tristán Valdivia, a disillusioned journalist who returns to his native Asturias. There, amidst the darkness of the mines and the growing social tension, the destinies of workers and aristocrats, of rebels and the resigned, become intertwined.

The Revolution of Asturias of 1934 erupts with fury and hope, leaving in its wake a trail of dignity, violence, and broken dreams. Adapted from the graphic novel by Alfonso Zapico, National Comic Award winner, this choral and human epic portrays with precision the dilemmas of the soul in times of war, exploring class struggle, love, loss, and memory.
