About this venue
The Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias is Oviedo’s art museum, with its entrance on Santa Ana street. Its origins go back to 1969, and it opened on 19 May 1980 with seven rooms and 78 works on display.
Its original home was the Palacio de Velarde, built between 1765 and 1770 by Manuel Reguera. The Casa de Oviedo-Portal, a building dating from 1660, was added in 1986. In 2015 the extension opened, designed by the architect Francisco Mangado after a competition called in 2006; it displays the museum’s contemporary art collections.
