
The 26th edition of the Festival Internacional de Gaites Villa de Xixón will bring together musicians and groups from various territories in Gijón/Xixón from August 3 to August 9, 2026. Throughout the week, the city will be filled with concerts, parades, street performances, and participatory workshops dedicated to traditional music.
The event will culminate on Sunday, August 9, with the traditional Festival Popular Meal, a day of fellowship open to residents and visitors. - Monday, August 3: Official presentation of the XXVI Festival de Gaites Villa de Xixón.
- Tuesday, August 4: Activities from 12:00, including the children’s instrument-making workshop and concerts by Leirana and Milngavie Pipe Band.
- Wednesday, August 5: Highlights include the bagpipe and Scottish dance workshop, the documentary Ay agora que lo bailen los rapacinos, lo llixero n’Asturies, and the Fest Noz with Bagad Arvorizion Karnag.
- Thursday, August 6: Performances by the Bandina Villa de Xixón, Milngavie Pipe Band, and BG Nova Fronteira.
- Friday, August 7: Intense day with simultaneous performances at 19:00, the Interceltic Parade at 20:00, and the International Gala at 21:30 at the Plaza Mayor.
- Saturday, August 8: Concerts by Milngavie Pipe Band, BG Nova Fronteira, and José Manuel Tejedor.
- Sunday, August 9: Closing with an arts and crafts exhibition, a parade of big-heads, the popular meal, and the Conciertazu pal Baile at 18:30. 🎺
