Prometheus. Dance Festival in Oviedo
In a season dedicated to myths, Martin Harriague continues his exploration of transgressive figures that challenge the gods and norms. After his creation inspired by Donald J. Trump, now he invokes Prometheus, who dared to steal fire from the gods to give it to humanity, an act of rebellion and generosity, punished with eternal suffering.
Beyond the ancient tale, this new work questions what it means to “steal fire” today: in a world where humans claim the power to control and destroy, Prometheus does not steal the flame to annihilate, but to offer men the very source of knowledge, of life and… of love.
For Martin Harriague, this intimate relationship between movement and sound is a true sign of identity: dance is not following music, it is music. Bodies translate notes and reveal what we hear. The choreography combines powerful ensembles, sensitive duets, and virtuosic solos. It shows the explosive and precise style that defines the unique approach of the choreographer.
The composer Fabien Cali, enriches the score of the ballet Prometheus by Beethoven with a contemporary dimension, expanding the dialogue between music and movement, between heritage and invention.
In this way, Prometheus consolidates itself as a complete musical, choreographic, and mythological work.
