On the occasion of International Museum Day, we invite you to explore historical heritage in a direct and personal way, connecting with the experiences of those who left in search of a better future through original documents and photographs. 🏛️

Activity details

This proposal, organized by the Fundación Municipal de Cultura, Educación y Universidad Popular de Gijón, offers you a unique opportunity to access the archives and storage areas of the Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies. During the tour, we will focus on the “Asturianos en América” collection, which began to take shape in 1992 and has grown from those first two hundred thousand images to over two and a half million documents today. Through the letters and photographs that served as an emotional bridge between the emigrants and their families, we will learn about the memories of those who left up close.

The activity lasts 90 minutes and is open to the general public aged 16 and over. Because capacity is limited to 20 spots, it is recommended to book in advance.
