Off Niemeyer. The Abyss

A powerful scenic testimony about the migration crisis in the Mediterranean, based on true events collected by the Italian playwright Davide Enia during his stay in Lampedusa. The Spanish version stars Jorge de Juan, who sustains a production of great emotional intensity, accompanied by a sober and precise staging that places all the focus on the word and the human experience conveyed by the text.

Far from a documentary or a political speech, El Abismo challenges the spectator through empathy and reflection. The play gathers the voices of rescuers, fishermen, doctors, volunteers, and survivors to compose a mosaic of real stories that turn the stage into a space of shared memory.
