About the event

What does it mean to be “local” when your gaze is set on the universe?

In this edition of CreativeMornings Oviedo, we are joined by Lucía González Cuesta, a PhD in Astrophysics, who developed her thesis at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), one of the international reference centers for cosmos research.

But her story does not end with large telescopes or academic research. Lucía decided to bring the stars home.

She is the founder of Allande Stars, a project born in the southwest of Asturias with a clear idea: to demonstrate that science, outreach, and sky observation can generate a real impact on the territory. That knowledge does not have to be concentrated in large capitals. That the local can also be infinite.

Lucía has won numerous awards, including the Best Start Up 2023 Award, granted by Banco Sabadell and Prensa Ibérica (La Nueva España), and the Rural Woman 2024 Award, by the Red de Desarrollo Rural de Asturias (READER). Since September 2025, she has been a weekly contributor to the program Las Mañanas de Radio Nacional and is a member of the Jury for the Pueblo Ejemplar Award of the Fundación Princesa de Asturias.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, March 20 at 9:00!
