10 years of Asturian cinema
In 2026, a decade will have passed since the birth of the Laboral Cinemateca initiative and its distribution catalog of Asturian short films. This special selection pays tribute to some of the most awarded and outstanding works of these ten years.
Selection of short films:
- No Jungle! (Carmen Menéndez, 2016): A documentary about life in a refugee camp in Calais.
- Ciruela de agua dulge (Sunken Plum) (Roberto F. Canuto, Xu Xiaoxi, 2017): Fiction about a transgender woman who returns to her hometown.
- El Diañu (Samuel Fernandi, 2018): Animation based on Asturian mythology.
- Beyond the Glacier (David Rodríguez Muñiz, 2019): Documentary about the water conflict in Central Asia.
- Gniele Baila (Ana Izarzugaza, 2019): A story about women, migrations, and abandoned villages.
- Vas a ser mi memoria siempre (Marina Munárriz, 2021): Documentary about historical memory and industry.
