Apr 14, 2026 - Nov 30, 2026
About the event

If you are passionate about history and craftsmanship, you cannot miss this fascinating look at the ceramics of Cangas del Narcea. It is a unique opportunity to discover how a centuries-old tradition has managed to survive by adapting to the times, from the most classic pieces to the most current innovations. 🏺

The exhibition is held at the Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies and will be open to the public from April 14, 2026 to November 30, 2026.

A journey through tradition

The exhibition brings together 95 pieces that narrate the evolution of pottery from the 18th century to the present day. As Llamas del Mouro is the only pottery center that survives in Asturias, this collection takes on special value for understanding our cultural identity.

You will be able to enjoy:

  • Traditional forms of the xarreiros of Llamas del Mouro, such as xarros, pots, tarreñas and cheese molds.
  • Pieces that emerged from the new demands of the 20th century, such as flowerpots, piggy banks and decorative objects.
  • Innovative creations by Raúl Mouro, National Craft Award winner in 2024.
  • A collection of botijos from 1966 decorated by Asturian artists such as Rovés, Díaz de Orosia, Elías García Benavides, Marolo and Kiker. 🎨

Complementary content

To make the experience complete, the exhibition is accompanied by valuable documentary material:

  • Historical photographs from the twenties and thirties by authors such as Ruth M. Anderson, Fritz Krüger, Juan Uría Riu and Foto Gómez de Luarca.
  • Current images by FOAT and José Ramón Puerto Álvarez.
  • An audiovisual on traditional pottery and the work of Raúl Mouro, made in 2025 by Benito Sierra and produced by the Tous pa Tous, Sociedad Canguesa de Amantes del País. 🎥
