"Making territory by connecting the dots", exhibition by Irene Trapote

About the event

La Casa de Cultura Teodoro Cuesta de Mieres is hosting “Making territory by connecting the dots”, a multidisciplinary project by Irene Trapote focused on the trade of the redeiras from the Costa da Morte and the net makers of the Asturian coast.

The exhibition highlights the interdependence between the work of these women, fishing, the landscape, and the identity of the place, and values their labor and their struggle throughout history to maintain and promote this artisanal trade. An essential trade for maritime culture, historically relegated to the domestic sphere and today threatened by the precarization of manual and traditional jobs.
