Ismael María González Arias received in 2024 the Xosefa Xovellanos Prize for novel in Asturian with the work 1664/1665.
Ismael María González Arias (Mieres del Camín, 1958) is a writer and music producer, and was for decades the director of the Teodoro Cuesta Cultural Center of Mieres del Camín. Among his abundant literary production can be cited the works with which he won the Máximo Fuertes Acevedo Prize for essay (L’Asturianada , 1998), María Josefa Canellada Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature (Les puertes del paraísu , 2009) or the Xosefa Xovellanos Prize, which he had already obtained on two previous occasions (El cuartu negociu , 1992; En busca de Xovellanos , 2005). In 2009 he was also distinguished with the Asturias Critics’ Prize.
