Synopsis
The King of Show Business immerses us in the splendor and decline of the Golden Age through a character that fuses theater, music, and comedy. Inspired by an enigmatic figure—half actor, half confidant to Philip IV—the play intertwines fiction and reality, showing a monarch who, despite wars and imperial decay, found refuge in the theatrical scene.
Scenic Proposal
With a scenic proposal that fuses the historical and the contemporary, the play mixes texts from the Golden Age with songs by composers such as Monteverdi, José Marín, and Juan Hidalgo. Breaking the fourth wall and with a hybrid aesthetic, the protagonist interacts with the audience using irony, audacity, and emotion to reveal little-known historical episodes.
This baroque and provocative cabaret recreates the atmosphere of Philip IV’s court, exploring the power and influence of show business in society. Through satire and sensitivity, The King of Show Business reflects how the stage, in all its forms, has been a mirror of human greatness and contradictions.
