Edward Burtynsky. Water

Friday, May 29, 2026 - Sunday, September 13, 2026
About the event

The Centro Niemeyer hosts the exhibition Water, by the renowned Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky, one of the great benchmarks of contemporary photography on an international level. The exhibition, curated by Enrica Viganò, brings together a selection of striking images that explore the complex relationship between human beings and one of the planet’s most essential resources: water.

With his unmistakable style—characterized by large formats, extraordinary chromatic richness, and a gaze that combines aesthetics and critical reflection—Burtynsky traverses the five continents to document landscapes and settings where water is the protagonist of stories of transformation, tension, and fragility. From vast hydraulic infrastructures to industrial operations, passing through deltas, glaciers, and areas affected by drought, the photographer places us before realities at the limit, yet cloaked in a powerful visual charm.
