Corquiéu
Corquiéu was born in Ribadesella in the year 1997 and over the course of these almost 30 years has consolidated itself as a reference within the Asturian folk scene and one of the most powerful live performances in Europe.
The group has toured the stages of the main European folk festivals, repeating participation in many cases over the years and including the Celtic Connections in Glasgow and the Shetland Islands (Scotland), Andar per Música (Italy), Tonder Folk Festival (Denmark) or the incomparable Festival Intercéltico de Lorient (Bretagne French), among many others that include countries such as Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxembourg and Germany. And if Corquiéu has traveled the world, it has also received recognition in Asturias, winning multiple AMAS music awards: for the best folk album with Suaña and Salia, best folk song with Ribeseyana , Bratislava and Murniu cantar; in addition to the individual merits of several of its members with the AMAS award for “other instruments”. In addition to the two awarded works, they have published La Barquera and, recently, El Zanjón , their latest discographic work, an EP released in June 2025.
Corquiéu makes music from composition where vocal ballads are mixed with fast and lively rhythms to build solid and very energetic instrumental sets with a dynamic and varied live performance, always respecting the patterns of traditional Asturian music.
