Empire Builders | Pieza Play & Creativity Workshop

Are you looking for a different plan to enjoy outdoors with your family? I invite you to participate in “Empire Builders,” a creative workshop where you can build your own mini-worlds inspired by the history of the Villa de Veranes.

This activity, organized by the Fundación Municipal de Cultura, Educación y Universidad Popular de Gijón, is a fantastic opportunity to learn about classical techniques while having fun together in a natural setting.

Practical information 🏛️

• When: May 16, 2026 at 12:00 and at 17:00.
• Where: Museo Villa Romana de Veranes.
• Price: Free activity.
• Tickets: You can make your reservation through the registration website.

The workshop is designed for families with children from 3 years old accompanied by an adult. Keep in mind that there is a limit of 15 families per workshop, so I recommend securing your spot as soon as possible. Each adult can accompany more than one child, always prioritizing the children’s spots.

What does the workshop consist of? 🛠️

During the 90 minutes that the session lasts, you will work with materials such as stone, lime mortar (opus caementicium), clay, wood, and sand. The entire process is inspired by the Villa de Veranes and other historical settlements near Gijón/Xixón.

The experience follows the “Loose Parts” philosophy, an analog and inclusive methodology that fosters very positive values:
