What was life like before? Art and stories to discover traditional life with Pintar-Pintar Editorial

Friday, November 27, 2026 - Tuesday, December 22, 2026
About the event

This activity connects literature, art, and cultural memory, inviting boys and girls to discover the past through stories and images, reflecting on how our ways of life have changed.

Based on the reading of excerpts from the story El libro del bosque, by Mª Josefa Canellada, participants will explore what life was like in the past, when people lived more directly connected to nature, agricultural work, and the rhythms of the forest and landscape. The workshop also proposes discovering how these ways of life are represented in the paintings of artists such as Paulino Vicente, Nicanor Piñole, Ventura Álvarez Sala, or Evaristo Valle.

Workshop dynamics

  • Visual introduction: Through an observation game, participants will learn to look at paintings as if they were windows to the past, discovering details about how people lived, worked, and inhabited the land.
  • Artistic creation: In the final part, each participant will create their own scene inspired by traditional life, combining drawing, color, and imagination to represent a small story of life from before.

The activity has an estimated duration of between 75 and 90 minutes.
