La Casa de Cultura de Llanes is dedicating a film series to Gonzalo Suárez (Oviedo, 1934 – Madrid, 2026), director, screenwriter, writer, and journalist, who passed away on September 29. The tribute is organized by the Ayuntamiento de Llanes, the Asociación Vecinal de Lledías, the Festival Oriéntate, and the Cine Club de Llanes; following an initial screening on October 17 at the Casa Concejo de Lledías with «El genio tranquilo», in November the series moves to the assembly hall of the Casa de Cultura with four of his most representative films.
On Thursday, November 19, «El detective y la muerte» (1994) will be shown, a film noir with surrealist overtones starring Carmelo Gómez, Maria de Medeiros, Héctor Alterio, Charo López, and Javier Bardem, who won the Silver Shell for Best Actor at the San Sebastián Festival for this role.
