Buir is a traditional Asturian music group performing at the Casino de Llanes as part of the traditional culture circuit of Asturies, Culture in Rede. Their work gathers and revises Asturian tradition to bring it closer to the present.
The lineup consists of Xosé Ambás, Pepín de Muñalén, and Vero Rubio. Ambás and Pepín, former bandmates in the group Tuenda, join forces here with Vero Rubio’s work on the piano, a combination that the project itself defines as novel.
Regarding the repertoire:
- It follows the line of Tuenda: the materials come from the Archivu de la Tradición Oral d’Ambás (ATOAM), many of them previously unreleased.
- A varied repertoire in linguistic, geographic, and thematic terms, the result of field research.
- A concert lasting about 60 minutes for family audiences.
