"25 cows", by Maije Guerrero

El Teatro Municipal Concha Espina presents “25 cows”, a play by Maije Guerrero produced and directed by Rita Cofiño (Rita Cofiño Producciones), starring Lucía Alvear Alonso, Belén Cañas Alonso, and Olivia Matas from Torrelavega.

The death of 25 cows under extreme circumstances in San Roque de Riomiera serves as the starting point for this fiction, which does not recreate that news event but rather tells the story of three sisters who had to leave their village to grow personally and professionally, and who return after their father’s death to take care of the cows and confront a family history that each has experienced in a different way. The play combines intrigue and humor, addressing the rural world, generational turnover in farming, family relationships, loyalty, and the search for truth.

Premiered in February 2025, it features set design by Néstor del Barrio and original music by Álvaro Basanta. It lasts about 60 minutes.
