"Callas Diva", by Asociación Aladroque Teatro (27th Amateur Theater Festival)

The Asociación Aladroque Teatro, from Murcia, presents “Callas Diva” at the Teatro Municipal Concha Espina in Torrelavega, as part of the 27th Amateur Theater Festival.

Not everything was luxuries, successes, travels, and romances: the life of Maria Callas had many other moments and situations that overshadowed her success and happiness. In a musical and theatrical journey, two actors show what many do not know about the great bel canto diva, “La Divina” or “La Voz de Italia”. Since childhood, she was unhappy and cruelly treated by those who supposedly loved her the most; Elvira de Hidalgo, her first teacher at 14 years old, was the only one who treated her like a person without taking advantage of her. Romances, heartbreaks, deceits, psychological abuse, and the loss of a child marked a Maria Callas who died alone in Paris at only 53 years of age.
