The Casa de la Cultura de Vegadeo occupies the Casa Villamil, a family home closely tied to the history of the town, located on the Paseo de la Alameda. Everardo Villamil remodelled it in the 19th century, starting from the remains of an earlier building of unknown date, and most of the work was completed in 1882. The building has three floors, and its main facade features symmetrical balconies with segmental arches and wrought-iron railings. It has been declared a Historical-Artistic Monument.

Today, with its interior refurbished, it houses the Casa de Cultura and the municipal library. Vegadeo is a municipality in western Asturias that belongs to the Oscos-Eo area, a designated Biosphere Reserve.
