Ferrera de los Gavitos is a village in the parish of Muñás, in the municipality of Valdés, about 26.5 kilometres from Luarca. The Muñás river runs through it and shapes a valley of farmed hills and woods of chestnut, oak, eucalyptus and pine. Its economy relies almost entirely on farming and livestock, and in 2022 it had 38 inhabitants spread across the neighbourhoods of Ferrera, Los Gavitos, Aldorre and La Barquera.

The village is home to the ancestral house of the Marqués de Ferrera, a title whose first holder was Juan Alonso de Navia Arango in the 18th century, and the inland route of the Camino de Santiago between Las Cruces and Barcia passes through here. The patron saint is Santiago Apóstol, who has his own chapel, and for several years the feast of San Lucas has been celebrated on the weekend closest to 18 October.
