About this venue

Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the open space in front of the Tineo town hall building, right in the old quarter of the town. That town, the capital of the municipality, is a declared Conjunto Histórico: it received its town charter in the time of Alfonso IX, in 1222, and was a compulsory stop for pilgrims on the Camino Primitivo between Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela.

The square is one of the stages for local celebrations. Every 12 August it hosts the presentation of the peñas of the San Roque fiestas, Tineo’s main festivities, declared of Regional Tourist Interest in 1990.
