The Museo del Oro de Asturias (MOA) is in Navelgas, in the municipality of Tineo, and is devoted to gold: its history in Asturias, its extraction and its uses. It occupies La Casona Capalleja, in a village where gold panning is a deeply rooted activity.
The exhibition covers the properties of the mineral and its role throughout history, and pays attention to local mining, with replicas of the tools the Romans used to extract it. Gold panning, which is also practised today as a sport with championships, has its own workshop as a complement to the visit.
