The Paseo Princesa Letizia is the seafront promenade of Ribadesella’s harbour: a wide walk along the water that runs from the end of the bridge over the Sella to the fish market, with the river mouth on one side and views of Santa Marina beach. Together with the parallel Calle de los Marqueses de Argüelles it forms a broad avenue where a good share of the town’s cider houses and restaurants sit facing the harbour.
It was formerly called Paseo Marítimo del Puerto de Ribadesella; the current name honours Queen Letizia, who spent many childhood and teenage summers in Ribadesella and was named an adoptive daughter of the town. From the promenade you can see the moored fishing boats, the sailing yachts, the canoeists training in the estuary and, opposite, the marina. It is a meeting and leisure spot for locals and visitors alike.
