About this venue

The Real Instituto de Estudios Asturianos (RIDEA) is an autonomous public cultural body of the Principality of Asturias. It was born in 1946 under the umbrella of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and in 1992 the King granted it the title of “Real” (Royal). Its aims are research and the promotion of studies that help preserve and enrich the scientific, cultural and artistic heritage of the region.

It is based in the Palacio de los Condes de Toreno, on Plaza Porlier in Oviedo, a building raised between 1673 and 1675 by the architect Gregorio de la Roza and regarded as one of the city’s main examples of civil Baroque architecture.
