The Casa Municipal de Cultura-Biblioteca de Lugo de Llanera, a facility of the Llanera town council, occupies the old Casa de los Campo in the Pondal neighbourhood: a house in the traditional Asturian style built in the late 18th century, with the coats of arms of the Alonso del Campo and Valdés Quirós families on the facade and an older chapel. In the late 19th century it belonged to the Peón family, locals know it as the “Casa el alcalde”, and it is listed in the municipality’s cultural heritage catalogue as architectural heritage.
The restored building opened as a cultural centre on 23 February 2012. The ground floor holds a 70-seat assembly hall and two multipurpose rooms; the first floor houses the library, part of the Red de Bibliotecas Municipales de Llanera, with a children’s room, an adults’ room and the old enclosed gallery turned into a reading room.
