Porrúa is a parish in the municipality of Llanes, on the coast of eastern Asturias, at the foot of the Sierra del Cuera. The first documentary mentions of the village date from the late 11th century, and by 1385 it already appears as a parish. It is a village with a livestock-farming tradition, dotted with indiano buildings, and in 2005 it received the Premio al Pueblo Ejemplar de Asturias (Exemplary Village of Asturias award).
The village is home to the Museo Etnográfico del Oriente de Asturias, opened in 2000 on the Llacín estate. Local cultural life, driven by the Asociación Llacín, includes a traditional music school, a bagpipe band and the Mercáu Tradicional de Porrúa, which since 1995 has recreated an old market with artisan trades, music, folklore and native animals, and is held on the fourth weekend of August.
