The Casa de la Cultura Alberto Vega is the cultural centre of La Felguera, the most populous parish in the municipality of Langreo and one of the six districts into which the municipal capital is divided, a town that was one of Spain’s major industrial centres until the late twentieth century. The Alberto Vega Municipal Public Library, part of the Principality of Asturias public library network, is based on the same Plaza Merediz.
Its activities include book and poetry launches, some of them in Asturian, and meetings with authors, such as the 2016 encounter with the Cuban writer Leonardo Padura held in collaboration with the Semana Negra and the Fundación Andreu Nin.
