The Termas Romanas de Campo Valdés is a museum and archaeological site in the Cimadevilla neighbourhood of Gijón. The bath building began to be raised in the 1st century, next to the Roman wall and on the shore of today’s San Lorenzo beach, and was organised into a cold, a temperate and a hot zone, with a pool heated from beneath the floor. Some of its rooms were decorated with frescoes.
The remains were found by chance in 1903, during sewer works. They were declared a site of cultural interest in 1987; excavations began in 1990 and uncovered a large part of the building, and the museum opened its doors in 1995. The surviving ruins can be visited and form part of the Cimadevilla archaeological site.
