Parque de los Hermanos Castro is a green space in Gijón on the right bank of the Piles river, within the parish of Somió and very close to the El Molinón stadium and the Luis Adaro fairground. For years it was called Parque Inglés; in 2008, after a thorough renovation, it reopened under its current name in honour of two figures of Real Sporting de Gijón: the striker Enrique Castro “Quini” and his brother Jesús Castro, a goalkeeper, who died in 1993 rescuing some children at sea. A plaque in the park commemorates them both.
Today it is a popular spot for walking, sport and leisure. In 2012 a clay court was built there, and it hosted the Davis Cup semi-final between Spain and the United States, won by the Spanish team 3-1.
