The Colegiata de San Juan Bautista is an 18th-century Baroque church attached to the Palacio de Revillagigedo, in the centre of Gijón. The work was completed in 1723: the city council links it to canon Luis Martínez de Jove and notes that Pedro Ruiz de Somonte was the one who saw it through to the end. It was declared a Historic Artistic Monument in 1974.
It stands out for its three-storey tower, with rusticated corners, and for a protruding side section housing a Baroque doorway flanked by two Ionic columns. A former parish seat, it is now used as a concert hall and is valued for its acoustics.
