The Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza del Monte Deva (CIN) is in the rural area of Gijón, on the Coto de Apolinar de Rato estate, on Monte Deva, a mountain in the municipality that is also home to an astronomical observatory. According to the City Council, the centre opened in 2002 after an old manor house was restored and given over to environmental education; it has a reception area, a library, an exhibition room, a multipurpose room and an auditorium.
Its programme combines workshops, itineraries and other environmental activities aimed at both school groups and the general public: walks on the mountain, summer camps, recycling crafts and astronomy events such as the Perseids. The activities are free of charge, but you need to sign up in advance.
