The Embalse de Trasona is a small reservoir in the municipality of Corvera de Asturias, in the parish of Trasona. It went into service in 1957 to supply water to the steelworks in the Avilés area, and today its roughly 61-hectare water surface is also used for leisure and sport.
Along its banks there are two recreation areas, Gavitos, next to the high-performance sports centre, and Overo, near the Palacio de Peñalver. Beside the reservoir there is also the Centro de Tecnificación Deportiva de Trasona, dedicated to canoeing, whose facilities were renovated in 2010 ahead of that year’s European Canoeing Championship.
