About this venue
The Teatro Toreno is a historic theatre right in the centre of Cangas del Narcea, listed in the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Asturias. The Count of Toreno ceded it to the townspeople in 1923 and, after being rebuilt by the architect Leopoldo Corujedo along historicist lines, it was inaugurated in February 1927.
The building passed into the hands of the town council on 26 February 1993 and, once restored, reopened its doors to the public in December 1998. Today it keeps up a continuous programme and takes part in several cultural circuits, serving as a venue for the town’s cultural life and performances.
