The Antigua Fábrica Ortiz is a former industrial building in Candás, in the municipality of Carreño, that once housed the Ortiz canning factory. Today it is listed among the town’s places of interest and recalls the canning tradition that, together with fishing, shaped the local economy.
It now serves as a space for public activities. Carreño town council schedules events there such as the Easter children’s fair and the Amagüestu, and it hosts part of the programme of the Santísimo Cristo festivities, also serving as a covered alternative when it rains. During the Reguerada Fest it brings together a market, a book fair, talks, workshops and concerts.
