XXIV Mercáu Vaqueiru in San Martín de Luiña

The Mercáu Vaqueiru celebrates its twenty-fourth edition in San Martín de Luiña, an event declared a Fiesta of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias. This event is dedicated to the dissemination of the culture, customs, and traditions of the vaqueiros de alzada through a program full of activities for all audiences.

Featured Program

• Saturday, August 1: Official opening, clay mythology workshop, traditional Asturian games, and musical and dance performances.
• Sunday, August 2: XI Ruta Vaqueira, vehicle gathering, traditional dance and music exhibitions, and participatory singing and dancing activities.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will be able to enjoy an exhibition of artisans, inflatables for the little ones, an exhibition of oxen, and a gastronomic offer that includes traditional tortos and frixuelos. The event is an ideal opportunity to learn about the vaqueira identity up close in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
