XIII Wood Encounters

A meeting with the art of wood 🪵

The Ayuntamiento de Pravia and the Asociación de Amigos de la Madera ‘Les Forgaxes’ are organizing the thirteenth edition of the Wood Encounters. For three days, the Polideportivo del Instituto de Pravia will become the epicenter of wood craftsmanship, offering a complete experience for enthusiasts and the curious alike.

Featured activities:

• Live demonstrations: We will have internationally renowned master turners such as Gary Lowe, Gary Rance, Jesús López Collazos, and the ‘El Arte de Forgar’ school.
• Introductory workshops: In ‘El Rincón de Les Forgaxes’, beginners will be able to make their first shavings and learn basic techniques from experts.
• Exhibition and Contest: Turned, carved, and pyrography pieces will be on display. Go ahead and submit your own creations to the contest!
• Second-hand market: An ideal space to buy, sell, or trade carpentry and woodturning tools.
• Charity collaboration: This year we are supporting the GALBÁN association (families of children with cancer in Asturias) with a stand of donated pieces whose proceeds will go entirely to the cause.
• Children’s area: Entertainment zone with wooden toys for the little ones.
