The film tells the story of Víctor, a widowed father, and his daughter Julia, who flee Spain after the fall of Barcelona in January 1939. Faced with the threat of concentration camps in France, they find an opportunity for salvation by boarding the Winnipeg, a ship chartered by Pablo Neruda and the Quakers of Paris bound for Valparaíso, Chile.
