About the activity
The Centro Oceanográfico de Gijón (IEO-CSIC) and the Universidad de Barcelona, on the occasion of the ninth edition of the International Symposium on Deep-Sea Corals, present this outreach workshop. The Universidad Popular and the Mercado artesano y ecológico are collaborating on this initiative that seeks to create a deep-sea coral reef of the Cantábrico woven in crochet.
What does it consist of?
The activity combines:
- Scientific outreach about deep-sea corals.
- Geometry and art applied to knitting.
- Traditional knowledge of crochet.
The project is inspired by the TRAMARES initiative, created by the Universidad Católica de Chile in 2021.
