Puppets, before becoming a theatrical form for the entertainment of children and adults, were used in ancient civilizations in a ceremonial, sacred, or religious way to represent gods, myths, and beings and elements of nature.
Even today, artistic manifestations involving puppets persist and have reached our days, passed down from generation to generation; likewise, new traditions have been created in recent centuries. Several are recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (Indonesia, China, Mali, Italy, Czechia, Turkey… and others).
In this Animated Visit we bring the traditional puppets of this Museum to life, we tell you about their origin, how they are built, and what they are used for; you can even move some of them.
