Real Filharmonía de Galicia: Remembering the Classics, with Sergey Malov

About the event

The Real Filharmonía de Galicia presents at the Auditorio de Galicia a program that reviews works from the symphonic and concertante canon with a historicist approach. Sergey Malov acts as conductor and soloist on violin and violoncello da spalla, an instrument smaller than the cello with a clear sound, of which the orchestra presents him as a great virtuoso.

Programa:

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 1 in E-flat major, KV 16
  • Johann Sebastian Bach: Violin Concerto in G minor (reconstruction)
  • Luigi Boccherini: Cello Concerto in D major (with violoncello da spalla)
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 41 in C major, KV 551, “Jupiter”

According to the orchestra’s notes, Mozart wrote his first symphony at only eight years old, as a learning exercise. Bach’s concerto reaches the public after a recovery effort, and its second movement revolves around a melody that the composer reused in Cantata 156. Boccherini’s stands out for its vitality and lyricism. The Jupiter belongs to the period of Mozart’s greatest creative complexity, and it remains unknown whether he ever heard it performed.

The concert is on Thursday, December 3 at 20:00 and admission costs 18 €. Earlier, at 19:15, there is a meeting with the soloist, Conversing with… Sergey Malov, in the Sala Mozart. The orchestra repeats the program on December 2 at the Teatro Afundación de Vigo and on December 4 at the Círculo das Artes de Lugo.
