Book presentation: "Reivindicación y raigañu nel costumismu asturianu"

If you are passionate about Asturian culture and theater, you cannot miss this very special event. We invite you to join Carmen Duarte for the presentation of her new book, a work that celebrates Asturian costumbrismo through the eyes of one of its most beloved and committed figures. 🎭

The event will take place on May 7, 2026 at 19:00 at the Centro Municipal Integrado El Llano. Admission is free until full capacity is reached, making it a perfect plan to enjoy a cultural afternoon in good company.

This publication, edited by the Equality and Culture and Education services of the Ayuntamiento de Gijón/Xixón, collects two works of Asturian costumbrismo by Carmen Duarte herself. The author, known for her tireless work in the neighborhood movement and feminism, has an impressive track record of 22 premiered works.

An act full of talent

The presentation will be a full-fledged artistic celebration, where the written word will meet other disciplines:

• Theater: With the participation of the theater group Traslluz.
• Music: By José Ramón Feito.
• Guest voices: We will have the presence of municipal representatives and the book’s prologue writer, Adolfo Camilo Díaz.
