AUTHOR: Natalia Ordieres Reconstruction of the tragic and silenced story of eight Soviet female mountaineers who, in 1974, became the first all-female rope team to summit Lenin Peak (7,134 m) in the Pamir Mountains of Kyrgyzstan, all perishing during the descent, caught in a terrible storm. For decades, the official narrative attempted to minimize or discredit their feat using sexist arguments. Ordieres restores the voice, name, and dignity to this rope team, intertwining research, grief, and her own personal experience in the Pamir massif. Conference Room Centro Cultura Antiguo Instituto
