Broken Postcards of Zig Zag Dance

Between 1840 and 1940 more than 300,000 young people left Asturias bound for America in search of a better life. In 1880, 21% of these migrants were women, in 1920 the percentage rose to 40%. Each individual journey, each personal odyssey contributed to a global change. We are children of emigration.

Starting from that reality, Broken Postcards offers the portrait of a historical process that has always been told by men. And it does so with a woman’s voice. Broken Postcards is a portrait of immigration in which a woman separated by an ocean communicates through letters she writes, that are not read, that break, that are not sent…
